Todor Petrov

Graduated from Sofia Academy of Music.He participated since 1975 in numerous international courses and internships with Geza Anda, Ivan Moravez or Guido Agosti and conducted specialized courses in Paris and Nice with Jeanne-Marie Darée and Pierre Sancan (piano), Huguette Dreifuss  (harpsichord) and Maurice Gendron (chamber music), under whom he played the Brhams N2 concerto with the Orchestra of Monaco (summer 1981).

From 1983 untill 1989  he was been "State Soloist" in Sofia Radio Orchestra, and from 1987 to 1991 holding the Chamber Music Chair at the National Academy of Sofia. He played as a soloist with the orchestras of Sofia and Plovdiv.

Since 1990 Todor Petrov, gives numerous concerts in France and Italy.

He has performed in prestigious festivals such as the Festival of Early Music in Padua and Come, the Festival of Taormina, the Festival "Il Tempietto", etc ...

In 1993 he created a chamber music duo with mezzo-soprano Adriana Grekova.

He also played as a duo since 1996 with various artists and numerous chamber music ensembles.

He frequently accompanies singers internationally and has played with orchestras such as the "Baltic Virtuosi" Jasci Philharmonic, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Riga and various orchestras in England.

He gives recitals in major European cities.

Since 1999 he teaches piano at the Arts Academy in Rome and works as a soloist with orchestra The Academy Ottorino Respigi under the direction of Maestro Francesco La Vecchia.

He was a jury member of several competitions such as competition Cantu (1994), the international competition for pianists in Pavia (1995), The international competition Viotti-Varallo (1996,1998,2000) and the V International Competition in Caltanissetta Bellini (2001).

In March 2006, it performs the integral of all the Mozart concertos in nine consecutive evenings in Italy, Varese, Stresa and province.

Todor Petrov now teaches piano in Higher Music Institute of Sousse.

He recently discovered and reconstructed the piano concertos of L.Boccherini e A.Hoffmeister and executed in Bulgaria 02.12.2012 with the orchestra of the city of Haskovo under the baton of maestro Krsimir Zahariev.

Todor Petrov discovered the unknown concerto by Saverio Mercadante, did its world premiere and records for Naxos with  Rome Symphony orchester under the baton of Maestro Francesco La Vecchia.

He recently recorded for Brilliant classics sonatas Clementi, Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven on the copy of Anton Walter in 1805.
